I love and hate the Pacific

Mango author Main Schneider has already turned a few big rounds over the island paradise Caldera. The new map of Call of Duty: War zone is a direct hit for him. Nevertheless, Main is at the same time disappointed by the Pacific Update, because next to the strong map there is little good news.

I know exactly how dry my mouth felt after the announcement of the new War zone map. It was just a short segment at the end of the presentation of the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Vanguard — but the 2 minutes have blowed me up and let my chin load hard.

Now the map is outside and what should I say: I love the green island of Caldera. But at the same time, I hate the whole pacific update somehow.

About the author Main Schneider: War zone is the Battle Royale for me. I still remember how the genre was getting bigger, and I knew right away: This is my new favorite PVP mode.

But even after a lot of round pubs, Fortnite, Apex Legends and even crazy titles like Realm Royale could not handle Battle Royale so really fetters — until finally Call of Duty: War zone came. That's why my heart depends on almost 1,000 matches on the shooter. I look at the pacific update with a laughing and a crying eye.

That's why War zone is now my dream Battle Royale

My love of Pacific Update: The big highlight of the update should be the new map from the outset. Caldera — a piece of jewelry in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, lined with beaches, filled with jungle, ready for the war.

And that did the new map also managed. Caldera is madness, in the positive sense.

The card looks perfect, convinces with bright colors and a whole new atmosphere. At a tour of the location Capital, the capital of Caldera, I felt the tropical flair and enjoyed the moments of calm between the hard battles.

But graphic bellows and a great setting do not convince me alone. I am a warrior and as such I want a battlefield that supports me with my attacks, with my tactics. And Caldera delivers that.

There are so incredibly many houses, possible landing courts and tactical help. Even the first fight on Caldera felt more exciting than anything I have experienced in Verdant in recent months.

At the ancient Map were battles often short and one-dimensional: A team was as good as always in the advantage and either, I grab the escape or let me on a battle with Handicap.

Caldera makes you a lot easier for you. When the enemy was the advantage, we always found a way in our first matches to remove the tactical projection of the enemy. A blue house with 3 floors there, a half-height wall here, a tropical tree to raise arms.

While there were many overpowering sniper spots on the old map and a lot of open space, offered me the new map much more opportunities — and that's too close to any time.

The battles are therefore tactical, longer and clever integration of the environment in their own approach is much more rewarded.

That's why I love the pacific update with the new map. Everything I have seen so far, screamed almost Battle Royale and is better tailored to the needs of such a great mode without direct respawns. There are countless hours of fun in there.

That's why War zone is now my nightmare Battle Royale

My hate to the Pacific Update: As PS5 player, I feel neglected after the release of Caldera and even a little sad.

The Pacific Update has been something since the announcement, what I was looking forward to. The fresh tropical wind, which should blow through the dusted Battle Royale, is more of a lukewarm.

Previously, it was said in the idea of the update: As far as the graphics and technology are concerned, War zone and Vanguard will share the same technology and engine (via YouTube). But apparently there are different views, which means this statement.

For me, it was:

The Pacific: Jap targets Leckie War zone changes to the Vanguard Launcher New graphic based on the polished vanguard engine The new engine comes with a viewing field controller for consoles (FOR slider) Vanguard fame is transferred to War zone (Movement, Perks, etc.) Next-Gen version for PlayStation and Xbox

However, when there were no concrete announcements to a Next-Gen version and the FOR slider on the consoles before the release, the skepticism in me slowly rose.

And after the release showed that this feeling was entitled: No new graphics, no Next-Gen version, no FOR slider. Boom.

As I said, graphic itches me little. But I can not forgive one thing: the number with the FOR slider.

My first matches I played with Mango Shooter author Marko Celtic, who was on the PC. As a Spectator he observed more often my ratchets and could only ask his head shaking, whether I could not see the opponent left.

Let's start a PVP game, I want to get better every day, with each match a little better. That's why this technical hurdle annoys me so much.

Currently, I also invite war zone on my PC, which is well able to run the Battle Royale with 100 fps. But in the heart, I am a console, especially what shooter is concerned. And it meets me very much that there is not at least a clear announcement of the developers to the field regulator on the consoles.

That's why I hate the Pacific Update. Because I know how much better the game could feel for me.

Conclusion: Give me the FOR slider, and we close peace

Two things I wanted from the Pacific Update:

A horny new map

The FOR slider for my PS5

Maybe I should satisfy with the 50% rate. But when then at the start of the map was the certainty, I was pretty disappointed.

Caldera has played so well, I left me as many freedoms and almost always rewarded me when I started a tactical turn. Even a victory was in it on the first evening.

But this stupid field regulator maps the first impression.

I hope further on a timely update or information about when or whether War zone gets a Next-Gen version and / or the FOR slider. Do not have to be the PS5 upgrade right away, but with my field of view I wish more than the current tunnel view.

Until then, I fight with my graphics settings on the PC.

I like to read your first opinion about the new map and the Pacific Update in the comments. Do you see things similar or have you completely different thoughts about the big update?
